Sorry, but American credibility around the world cannot be restored in less than decades, if ever.
It doesn't matter if the next occupant of the White House is a love child of Reagan and Thatcher, brought up by Churchill's ghost.
The problem is that once this hypothetical Captain America leaves office, the American people are liable to elect another Carter, Clinton or Obama.
And by now everybody knows that American guarantees or threats are not worth the hashtags they are reduced to, because the next Obama, Clinton or Carter can be counted on to ignore them.
The problem with credibility is that it is like virginity or that other quaint antiquated notion, "honor." It is easy to lose, but you can only do so once, and you can never get it back again.
